back from summer hiatus
on my mind
the last time i sat down to write this newsletter, it was in the scorching heat and i had just begun fostering an adorable cat named Layla. i gave myself an unintentional summer break as each week i skipped rolled into yet another and another. i would pause to ask myself, do i have anything to share? do i really want to send anything?
over and over again, the answer was no, and so instead of beating myself up about it, i decided to honor that i’ve written this newsletter weekly/biweekly on my own time for the last two years, which i think is a pretty big deal. i allowed myself to rest and recover, eat what i wanted, read and watch what i felt like, enjoy more socializing than i have had in a year and a half, and try to inhabit a summer state of mind when work got too stressful.
the quick highlights of my summer:
fulfilling a childhood dream of getting a cat and enjoying her companionship
getting promoted (!?)
spending a week in Tulum, Mexico with friends, my first international trip and vacation since COVID and starting my job last year
meeting my coworkers for the first time in the Bay Area (i’m the only east coaster!) and hanging out with old friends and my childhood bestie who moved there
celebrating my aunt and uncle’s 50th anniversary with a surprise party in Philly
exploring New Hampshire with my family as we helped my brother settle into his new place
now that fall is here, i’m looking forward to making time for a healthier sleep schedule, intentional movement and exercise, enjoying the cooler weather and decluttering and decorating my home. i’m ready for brooding, comfort, and cozy vibes. also thinking about trying out some new hobbies and taking art classes like pottery or painting. if you’re into that kind of thing, please send me what you’ve tried!
i’d love to hear how your summer was (the good and the bad) and what you’re looking forward to in the coming months!
